The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a nonprofit organization that helps those living in poverty, will sponsor the 12th Annual Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run on Saturday, September 7th to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Bates Nut Farm.
The event is held each September, near the feast day of the Society’s patron, St. Vincent de Paul, who ministered the poor in Paris in the 17th century. The local Walk/Run is being sponsored by St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church.
All proceeds and donations from the event will directly benefit the people in the Valley Center and Pauma Valley areas served by SVdP, and there are no administrative fees associated with the event. Anyone interested in learning more, participating, or making a pledge
Bates Nut Farm started with walnuts, but now purchases nuts from all over the world. Pistachios, pecans, cashews, peanuts, pignolias, sunflower seeds and much more can be purchased on the farm. The nuts come raw, roasted, some spiced up and unsalted. To ensure quality and freshness we roast and package our nuts on the farm. The Bates family takes pride in providing a quality product at a fair price. It’s part of the tradition.
